Missing teeth can cause you to feel self-conscious and make it difficult to eat.
You may also notice changes in your facial structure as surrounding bone tissues begin to shrink away.
Dr. Ada recognizes that every patient is unique, which is why we offer a variety of denture options to suit your needs and lifestyle.
Our Acworth office provides affordable custom dentures to help you feel confident, eat better, and enjoy doing the things you love.
If you still have several healthy teeth, partial dentures can replace the ones that are missing without the need to remove your remaining teeth. Partials are typically made from a metal or acrylic base, which snaps in around your healthy teeth and replaces the missing ones next to them. Most people find that partial dentures are a budget-friendly alternative to more permanent options like fixed bridges or dental implants.
If full dentures are required, an upper and a lower prosthesis can be made to replace all your teeth in that arch at one time. The prosthesis is placed directly on top of your gums, creating a suction to keep them in place throughout the day. Traditional dentures cover the entire arch of your upper or lower teeth, for our patients who no longer have any teeth (or their remaining teeth need to be removed.)
Did you know that you can combine removable dentures with dental implants for added stability? These “snap-in” denture designs are typically more stable and comfortable to wear throughout the day, especially for our patients who have moderate to advanced bone loss where denture fit is a challenge. For these treatments, Dr. Ada places anywhere from 2-4 dental implants per arch. Each implant has a corresponding locator under the base of the denture. When you put the denture in, it “snaps” onto the matching dental implant.
Reinforcing your dentures with dental implants provides extra protection throughout the day, making them helpful for our patients who might otherwise struggle with a snug denture fit.
In some cases, newer dentures can be retrofitted to snap onto dental implants for added reinforcement. Bring your denture with you to your consultation to discuss your options.
It’s important that you remove your dentures each night before you go to bed. To keep them clean, soak your prosthesis in a denture cleanser overnight, then brush and rinse it off the next morning. You’ll also want to clean inside your mouth with an extra-soft toothbrush or clean washcloth to help prevent oral infections. Be sure to bring your denture in twice a year for a routine exam and to have your prosthesis evaluated. Occasional adjustments or relinings may be needed as your bone structures shift in the years ahead.
